My little boyfriend came to visit

His first time seeing the Atlantic Ocean, it must be overwhelming. Jacob decided to hide his transformer under the sand and let us play search team.
Nap time.
First time kayaking with his Dad.
I would rather play sand castle.
We had a small hide out beach all for ourselves on the river side 2 days in a row. Prefect weather and companies.

木蘭花慢 《天問》

Sorry, 上個 post 忘了。 For your reference.

Join the circus

What happens when a few crazy guys get together on the beach with all of their toys (RC glider, paraglider, hang glider, kiteboard kite ..... you name it.), and a bunch of audience (beach goers) . We have a circus; S.A.C. = Stuart Aeronautical Circus. I'm thinking next time we're going to put out a helmet to collect change. There's a abandoned Holiday Inn building, which created the perfect updraft for soaring when the wind direction is right. Of course, it takes a lot of skill and experience. Not for beginner like me. I'm just a junior member in the circus, sometimes being used as wind dummy.

Tango Fire

For people who never see "Forever Tango" (Argentinean Tango show first hit broadway in 1997), "Tango Fire" maybe very entertaining. But for tango fans like me and most of my classmate, it was a little disappointed last Friday evening in Kravis Center. The company is very young (dancers and musicians in their 20s-30s instead of 30s-50s). All dances are very fast, very energetic, too loud, too eager to please the audience. I kept expecting one classic till the end, but it never happen. Since, all the movements is so acrobatic with non-stop hi-kicks\spins\lifts , the show was over in a flash of flame (maybe that's how they got the name), but the essence of tango; the music tempo, dark mood and poise were all lost. Traditional Argentine tango (don't confused with ballroom tango) relies heavily on improvisation and connections between dancers, it can only happen in a reasonable pace. Passion supposed to be smolder, not fire, if you want to burn forever.

Make much of little

'Aside from love, few activities seem to promise us as much happiness as going traveling.' Alain De Botton said in his lovely little book; The Art of Travel. We are loaded with advice on where to travel to, but hear little of why and how we should go. The questions are neither simple nor trivial, even most people don't think about it. And the answers will help in the search of happiness.

'The sole cause of man's unhappiness is that he does not know how to stay quietly in his room.' --- Pascal. So, after a few chapters of the anticipation of departure, curiosity as motives, feeling on sublime landscape and make art as a way to possess beauty, Alain talks about idea of 'Journey around bedroom'; a notion that the pleasure we derive from a journey may be dependent more on the mind-set we travel with than on the destination we travel to. If only we could apply a traveling mind-set to our own locales, we might find these places becoming no less interesting than thousand miles away.

"Mirrormask" a super low budget, wired dream like fantasy, blend of live and animation film reminded me just that. Totally amazed with how much the film maker can achieve with how little. On the other hand, how much pleasure I derive from a simple movie. Fat, you will like this one --- off beat dark humor. ;>

Opening night

It was a fun night. A bunch of old friends came by to the see the Octopus. In fact, some didn't see octopus, but other mysterious creature or interesting thought. It's part of the game; once your works or words is out, it's open for interpretation. Did they say it's impossible to see your own eye directly, or think about your own thinking, without a medium ........ I'm glad to have the chance to see through other's eyes and thoughts of my own thoughts. Friends are good happy medium. Anyone interested in seeing some of the pots, click here. Comments are more than welcome.

Last day

Got home last night, totally exhausted. Found out the shower wasn't hot, and the 50 gallons water heater was leaking all over the place. Call the plumber this morning, he say maybe he can come today, maybe not. Still have a kiln to unload, pots to glaze, books to pick up, party to go to. We will see how the day pans out. Any how, happy new year to everyone reading this. Received an email from Annie this morning; Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. (Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches! If you've received this email from me, you're indeed my cheerful friends whom I cherish...)

Day 3, no wind

After 2 days of good wind, there is very little left today. Only barely enough to run a race, and it's not fun. Even still, we have plenty of protest to keep us busy. Some are interesting, some are painful. I'm not use to this 12 hours work day and late night dinner. I'm longing to go home tomorrow to see my cat and have some good sleep in my own bed.

Orange bowl regatta again

I considered myself a beneficiary of the affirmative action in the United States. I'm truly honored to be invited back to this world class regatta, working with top sailors and excellent race management. Sometimes, being the ethnic minorities and female and inexperience is not a disadvantage. At last, now the organizer can say, one third of our 6 protest committee member are female, from 4 different ethnic group and with different level of judging experience. The economy is down, but the enrollment for the event is way up, for whatever reason. Could be the weak dollars? Could be sailor all around the world just love the warm gentle wind in Miami? We got perfect 12-17 knots east wind whole day long, ride on a very wet Boston Whaler for couple of hours, only 4 protests at the end. Another day in paradise!

HOT Now

This one is for Walter. Remember we talked about sign for "HOT Doughnuts" when they freshly come out of the assembly line, here you go! I even sampled a couple for you. They're like hot ice cream. Sorry that all the Krisy Kreme in HK went belly up, but they will come back someday. May even have hot sign too.

Little Kenji

Two brothers can be so different from day one. Little Kenji is like a little old wise men who knows everything about the universe. Kiyoshi cannot wait to find out everything about this world. I would love to see how their stories unfold. But, I know one thing for sure, there will be surprise.

Miracle

It's the first snow here in Paducah, Kentuchy these winter. Also the first time little Kenji ventured out since he came home 2 weeks ago. He's so calm and sweet from the very first moment. For friends who don't know about little Kenji yet; he is Kiyoshi's little brother. Another miracle baby. In fact, with the Hasegawa family, I have a few miracle friendships and wonderful memories over the years. Now, with another new member, I expected more to come. Lily well done!
